Manual gearbox repairs & rebuilds
Manual gearbox rebuilds in Sandhurst
A crunch between gears, persistent whine or difficulty selecting a gear deserves a diagnosis—not an automatic assumption that the whole gearbox needs replacing.

Recognise the symptoms
Tell us whether the concern happens from cold, once warm, under acceleration or on the overrun. A clutch, linkage or mounting fault can feel like an internal gearbox problem, so the initial assessment considers the surrounding drivetrain too.
- Difficult or noisy gear selection
- Whining, rumbling or changes in noise under load
- Gears disengaging, oil leaks or changes in shift feel
Repair, rebuild or replacement?
We offer manual gearbox repairs and rebuilds. The appropriate route depends on the gearbox, internal condition and availability of suitable components. Where dismantling is needed to establish the damage, the investigation scope and charge are discussed first.
A rebuild is not a fixed list of parts for every vehicle. Findings guide which worn or damaged components need attention. We explain the options and obtain agreement before additional work.
- Gearbox identification and symptom assessment
- Inspection of related clutch, flywheel, mount and selector concerns
- Vehicle-specific repair or rebuild proposal
- Replacement considered where appropriate
Plan the work
Give us the registration, mileage, service history and any previous gearbox or clutch work. Tell us about modifications, towing or commercial use. Parts availability and the extent of internal damage affect the timescale; we do not promise a universal turnaround.
This page covers manual gearboxes. Conventional automatic, DSG/DCT and CVT services are maintenance routes, not an offer of rebuilds or mechatronic repairs.
