Winter checks workshop service
Seasonal readiness

Prepare for winter before it arrives

A practical seasonal check of the items that matter most when temperatures fall and journeys get darker.

VULCAN / WORKSHOP
How we help

Vehicle care, made clear

Winter magnifies small weaknesses. We can check key safety and reliability items so you can address concerns before the first cold start or difficult journey.

What this service can include

  • Wiper and washer condition
  • Tyre tread and pressure
  • Starting confidence

Winter checks are a chargeable booked service. Reception can confirm the current price and appointment length before you book.

Every vehicle and situation is different. Speak to our reception team for availability and an assessment specific to yours.

Good to know before you book

Clear scope. Helpful answers.

Seasonal care—not a free health check

  • Winter and summer checks are paid inspections. Ask reception to confirm the scope and charge for your vehicle.
  • We look at battery performance, tyre condition and pressures, coolant and antifreeze, lights, wipers, washers and accessible steering and suspension components.
  • A check helps identify visible or testable concerns at the time. Hidden faults may need component removal or further investigation.
  • Any repairs, replacement parts or additional testing are explained and authorised separately.

01

Winter inspection

The check concentrates on items cold, darkness and poor weather expose quickly.

  • Battery test
  • Tyre pressure, tread depth, condition and winter readiness
  • Visual steering and suspension inspection
  • Antifreeze and engine-coolant check
  • Fluid levels topped up as agreed
  • Wipers, washers and lights checked
02

Useful before

A seasonal check is particularly valuable when demand on the vehicle is about to increase.

  • Cold-weather travel
  • Long holiday journey
  • A vehicle used infrequently
  • An older battery or marginal starting
  • Unknown tyre or coolant history
03

Beyond the checklist

Any concern is prioritised rather than automatically turned into a repair list.

  • Safety-critical findings explained first
  • Maintenance items separated from observations
  • Further diagnosis recommended only where evidence requires it

How the process works

01

Listen and inspect

We start with the symptoms, history and intended use, then inspect or test the relevant systems.

02

Explain the evidence

Winter exposes marginal components quickly. A timely check can identify weaknesses before dark journeys, low temperatures and poor road conditions amplify them.

03

Agree the work

You receive a clear recommendation and have the opportunity to discuss cost, timing and alternatives before additional work begins.

04

Complete and hand over

The agreed work is completed, appropriate checks are made and the outcome or useful aftercare is explained.

Helpful answers

Frequently asked questions

For advice specific to your make, model or symptoms, call the workshop and we will point you towards the right booking.

What is included in the winter check?

The workshop checks battery performance, tyres and pressures, steering and suspension visually, coolant and antifreeze, fluid levels, wipers, washers and lights.

When should I book it?

Before regular cold starts, a winter holiday, a long journey or when battery, tyre or coolant history is uncertain. Booking before the first severe weather leaves more time to address findings.

Does a winter check guarantee the car will not break down?

No. It reduces uncertainty by checking important visible and testable items at that time, but no inspection can guarantee future reliability.

What happens to additional work and old parts?

We seek approval by phone or WhatsApp before additional work. If you want old parts returned, ask when approving the work, before anything is discarded. Images can be shared by WhatsApp where possible.

When might a deposit be required?

A deposit may be needed for dealer or online-ordered parts and some larger jobs. Reception will confirm the amount and applicable terms before you commit.

How do I know whether I need winter checks?

The signs above are useful indicators, but they can overlap with other faults. Tell us what you have noticed and we will advise whether to book this service, an inspection or diagnostic time.

Can you give an exact price before seeing the vehicle?

We can often explain standard charges or likely ranges. Where condition, specification or diagnosis affects the scope, an accurate estimate follows assessment and is agreed before further work.

Will you contact me if you find something else?

Yes. Additional findings are explained and authorisation requested before we materially extend the work you originally approved.

What should I provide when booking?

Your registration, mileage, relevant warning messages, recent work and a clear description of when the symptom occurs all help us plan the right workshop time.
