Considered care for classic cars

Patient, sympathetic maintenance for vehicles that deserve a little more time and mechanical understanding.

VULCAN / WORKSHOP
How we help

Vehicle care, made clear

Classic ownership is personal. We approach each vehicle on its own terms, balancing preservation, reliability and the way you want to use it.

What this service can include

  • Age-appropriate inspection
  • Fault investigation
  • Ongoing care planning

Every vehicle and situation is different. Speak to our reception team for availability and an assessment specific to yours.

Good to know before you book

Clear scope. Helpful answers.

Preserve the car, clarify the scope

  • Servicing, mechanical repairs, conventional electrical investigation and suitable welding can be planned around the age and condition of the vehicle.
  • Internal engine repairs are assessed individually; complete engine rebuilding and machining are not offered as in-house services.
  • A historic MOT exemption does not remove the need to keep the vehicle roadworthy. We recommend an MOT or a paid condition inspection where suitable.

01

Maintenance and restoration

The plan is shaped around originality, usability and available parts.

  • Routine servicing and mechanical repair
  • Full or partial restoration planning
  • Limited internal repairs assessed individually; full rebuilds require a specialist
  • MOT preparation, repairs and testing where applicable
  • Careful recommissioning after storage
02

Traditional skills

Older construction methods sometimes need work outside a modern service checklist.

  • Wood-frame repairs and replacement
  • Welding
  • Electrical fault work
  • Lead-free fuel conversion assessment
  • Age-appropriate inspection
03

Vehicles welcomed

The workshop has experience with varied British and international classics.

  • Morris and Austin
  • Jaguar and MG
  • Rover
  • Other marques considered after an initial conversation
  • Ongoing care plans for regularly used or stored vehicles

From first conversation to collection

How the process works

01

Listen and inspect

We start with the symptoms, history and intended use, then inspect or test the relevant systems.

02

Explain the evidence

Classic vehicles rarely fit a modern checklist. We take time to understand the car, its history and how you intend to use it before recommending work.

03

Agree the work

You receive a clear recommendation and have the opportunity to discuss cost, timing and alternatives before additional work begins.

04

Complete and hand over

The agreed work is completed, appropriate checks are made and the outcome or useful aftercare is explained.

Helpful answers

Frequently asked questions

For advice specific to your make, model or symptoms, call the workshop and we will point you towards the right booking.

Can I book routine classic-car maintenance without a restoration?

Yes. Servicing, inspection, electrical work and mechanical repairs can be considered independently of a full or partial restoration.

What restoration skills are available?

Classic work can include mechanical repairs, suitable welding, conventional electrics and age-appropriate inspection. Internal engine work is assessed individually; full rebuilds and machining are not an in-house service.

Why is the estimate less certain on an older vehicle?

Parts availability, previous repairs, non-standard construction and hidden corrosion may only become clear during inspection or careful dismantling. The team will discuss changes before expanding the authorised work.

What happens to additional work and old parts?

We seek approval by phone or WhatsApp before additional work. If you want old parts returned, ask when approving the work, before anything is discarded. Images can be shared by WhatsApp where possible.

When might a deposit be required?

A deposit may be needed for dealer or online-ordered parts and some larger jobs. Reception will confirm the amount and applicable terms before you commit.

How do I know whether I need classic cars?

The signs above are useful indicators, but they can overlap with other faults. Tell us what you have noticed and we will advise whether to book this service, an inspection or diagnostic time.

Can you give an exact price before seeing the vehicle?

We can often explain standard charges or likely ranges. Where condition, specification or diagnosis affects the scope, an accurate estimate follows assessment and is agreed before further work.

Will you contact me if you find something else?

Yes. Additional findings are explained and authorisation requested before we materially extend the work you originally approved.

What should I provide when booking?

Your registration, mileage, relevant warning messages, recent work and a clear description of when the symptom occurs all help us plan the right workshop time.
