AIR CONDITIONING PAGE

Why is 'Servicing your Air Conditioning' important?

Would you drive around for 2 years without changing your oil?
No!
Here are some 'helpful tips' for looking after your A/C system.

Use the A/C regularly, even in winter (for at least 10 minutes twice a week), or preferably all the time.
Why?
This ensures that the oil in the system lubricates the rubber seals and gaskets in the compressor. If these dry out they will cause a leak.

Using the A/C in the winter actually dries the air (dehydrates), helping to demist windows and provide a much better environment in the vehicle. Blend this with hot air to achieve the desired in-cabin temperature.

Treating the system with an anti-bacterial / odour treatment every year will prevent the system from producing any nasty odours or bacteria forming, that will cause travel sickness, nausea etc. This can be done for as little as £10.00 +Vat.

The condenser in front of the radiator, (similar in appearance to the radiator), must be kept clean from debris, flies, leaves, etc, at all times. This will ensure the systems can disperse the heat properly and operate efficiently.

Have the A/C serviced by a 'Specialist' at least every two years.
What does this involve?
This will involve 'topping' up with gas, replacing the receiver drier (filter), as well as inspection and testing of the entire system.
How much will it cost?
For a system that is looked after and regularly serviced, this would cost approximately £100.00 +Vat.

An A/C system that is used regularly and serviced frequently should not give any trouble.
When systems are neglected problems inevitably arise and the repairs can be very expensive.
Preventative maintenance and constant use are the keys.
